Journal entry for 5/30/24
Hopped on the scale this morning and I am now 53lbs down! The scale is moving again and that makes me happy! After a recent PCOS flare up, that was great news to see! I may be inching along slowly, but not going to give up! I am 12 pounds away from my first goal and am going to get there at my turtle pace. When I do, I will tell the numbers from my start weight to the finish line.
Now, onto what I want to discuss today... I have never been a water enthusiast, but since starting this health journey, it has become a habit. My pink flamingo cup stays by my side most of the time. It holds around 28 ounces and I try to drink at least 64 ounces a day. That is, typically, 2 1/2 to 3 of this cup filled a day. The first cup is always herbal tea (which counts as water). No sugar! The other two are usually water, sometimes more herbal tea. I do love tea!
I have taken soda and other sugary beverages out of the equation. Looking back at how I felt when drinking those types of liquids, it wasn't good. I felt lethargic and grumpy (Sugar affects me that way). Since I have been drinking water, my energy levels have increased by a lot. I feel and function better.
I have some friends who don't like drinking water and my recommendation is to try the little packets or bottles of flavoring. I always tell them to watch the sugar because they could have a lot. Reading labels is a must and will keep you from adding unnecessary calories. I don't typically use them, but if it benefits another soul who is struggling to drink water, then more power to them!
My husband used to joke that it was time to fill 'er up at the hydration station! Always made me laugh, but drinking water is important for weight loss. It keeps me from getting dehydrated, flushes the system and is all around good for me. I have learned to just drink it, because of all the benefits it provides. So, fill 'er up!
Isaiah 58:11- "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."
